How to Receive Emails After Backups

Backup for Workgroups can send emails to you to keep you informed of the status of backup runs. You can choose to receive a single, summary email in which you receive one message per day that summarizes all the activities of Backup for Workgroups OR you can receive an email immediately after the completion of each backup run.

To receive one email per day summarizing all Backup activity:
 

  1. Go to computer running the Backup Server.

  2. Run Backup for Workgroups.

  3. Go to Tools>Preferences.

  4. Select the Email Server tabbed page. Input the name of your email server or the name of the SMTP email server provided by your ISP. If your server requires login information, please provide the login details as well.

  5. Now, select the Daily Summary Email tabbed page.

  6. Check/Tick the box labeled "Generate one email report per day..."

  7. Enter the appropriate email address in the To Address field.  If you want emails sent to more than one address, enter each address separated by one space.

  8. Specify when you want to receive these emails, optimally select a time after your backups should finish.

  9. Press OK to save your settings.

To receive an email notice after every backup session for all Backup Clients:
 

  1. Go to computer running the Backup Server.

  2. Run Backup for Workgroups.

  3. Go to Tools>Preferences.

  4. Select the Email Server tabbed page. Input the name of your email server or the name of the SMTP email server provided by your ISP. If your server requires login information, please provide the login details as well.

  5. Now select the Backup Run Emails tabbed page.

  6. Check/Tick the box labeled "Carbon-copy all Backup Run Reports to this address."

  7. Enter the appropriate email address in the To Address field under the carbon-copy option.  If you want emails sent to more than one address, enter each address separated by one space.

  8. Press OK to save your settings.

To receive email notices for particular Backup Clients: 
 

  1. Go to the appropriate Backup Client computer for which you wish to receive individual backup run email messages.

  2. Run the Backup Client software.

  3. Go to Tools > Manage Backup Sets Wizard.

  4. Select the appropriate Backup Set from the list.

  5. Choose Modify.

  6. Navigate through the Wizard until you see the Special Backup Set Items panel.

  7. In the When Your Backup Session Completes box, check the Send E-Mail To option and fill in the appropriate e-mail address. You may enter multiple e-mail addresses separated by commas.

  8. Press OK.

  9. Continue navigating through the Wizard and press Finish to save your settings.
