Backup for Workgroups - Version 6.0 Upgrade

We encourage you to take a few minutes today and update your existing Backup for Workgroups installation to the new Version 6.0.  Should you need to contact us for support, we can only help you if you are running the new Version 6.0.

Important Changes to Backup for Workgroups Version 6.0:

  • Block-Delta Backup Engine - The block delta backup engine will compare the current version of a file and the previous version to determine what portions of the file have changed.  The backup process will transmit just the changes to the file to the Backup Server.  The Backup Server uses the change information to compute the copy of the current version of the file to store at the Backup Server.  The result is a reduction in transmission time to the Backup Server.
  • Software Updates - includes bug fixes and general performance enhancements.
  • FREE Technical Support - Only customers that update to Version 6.0 will continue to receive free technical support via email, chat and telephone from Lockstep Systems.

General Backup for Workgroups Update Information:

  • No reboot is necessary at any point of the update - no disruption for servers.
  • All existing Client configurations, settings and backup data remain unchanged.
  • The Update will only take about 2 minutes per Client computer.
  • Run the "bfwsetup.exe" file and update your Backup Server computer first, then run it on your Backup Client(s).
  • Note:  the Auto Client update eliminates the need to download and manually update the Backup Clients with the "bfwsetup.exe" file.  After the Backup Server has been manually updated, the Auto Client update feature will send the software update to the Clients for you within 24 hours.
