Backup for Workgroups is now ready to backup your Exchange Server. At the time that you have specified in your schedule, Backup for Workgroups will stop your Exchange Server, backup the files, and then restart the Exchange Server.

You may be running an SQL Server if you are using database oriented applications, such as accounting software, customer management programs, inventory, sales management, web hosting, etc.  These applications commonly use an SQL-based database engine to store and retrieve their data.  Many SQL database engines lock their data while in use.  As a result, you may want to consider using Backup for Workgroups' Open File Add-On to include this data in the backup process.

The Open File Add-On is included in the Backup for Workgroups 30-day trial download.  You are welcome to use during your evaluation if you decide that you would like to backup your SQL Server without interrupting its services.

How Do I Backup my SQL Server?

When it comes to backing up your Microsoft SQL Server, Backup for Workgroups gives you two (2) methods.  You are welcome to use either method during your evaluation period.

• No Interruption Method - The Backup Client software contains a built-in Open File Add-On that can interact with the SQL Server to perform backups without stopping the SQL services.  To backup your SQL Server without interruption of its services requires the activation of this built-in Add-On and a subsequent Add-On license purchase should you wish to continue use of this method past the evaluation period.
  
  Applicable for any version of SQL Server running on Windows 2003, Vista or XP.
   
• Stop/Start Method - The Backup Client software has a "Stop/Start Services" feature that can stop the SQL Server Services before performing a backup.  Once it completes the backup of the SQL database, it restarts your SQL Server automatically.
  
  Applicable for any version of SQL Server running on older Windows Servers (2000, NT).
