Centralized Data Repository

Backup for Workgroups stores the backup data from all your Client computers in one centralized Data Repository located on a hard drive.  As a result, it is quick and easy to find and restore the data you need.

The Data Repository Manager allows administrators to easily manage the backup of multiple computers through the Status Panel, the Clients Panel, the Storage Panel and the Message Log.

Status Panel

The Status Panel keeps you informed of current Client connections, available disk space, and Mirror status.

Clients Panel

The Clients Panel allows you to easily add and delete Clients, activate additional Add-On products (Open File, Active Directory and Exchange Server) for Clients and generate Client-specific Disaster Recovery reports.

Storage Panel

The Storage Panel allows you to manage hard drive storage devices as well as activate, configure and maintain a Mirrored copy of the Data Repository.

With Backup for Workgroups, your Data Repository storage can be comprised of more than one storage device.  Store backup data on any local internal, external or network attached hard drive device including: IDE, SCSI, SATA, NAS, USB, Firewire, etc.  You can place multiple disk-based storage devices into the Primary Storage Group, the sum total space of these devices becomes your Data Repository. Message Log

The Message Log panel displays overall events that have transpired, including completed Client backups and any login errors that may have occurred.

Other Handy Options

The Data Repository Manager is also where administrators can turn on or customize certain features, such as:

• Choose between the default 56-bit Blowfish or 256-bit AES encryption.
• Enable Custom E-mail Reports to keep you informed of Client backup status or when the available free space in the Data Repository or Mirror is running low.
• For multi-Client installations, adjust the Throttling to specify the maximum number of concurrent backup sessions allowed by the Data Repository computer.
• Easy to maintain - as the amount of data grows, you can easily manage the Data Repository.  Add additional hard drives to your installation and let the data spill over (Drive Spanning) or use the Handy "Move" buttons migrate data to different/larger hard drives for you.
